Carey, 21, nailed her four tumbling passes and delivered a powerful performance, earning her a score of 14.366. Italy's Vanessa Ferrari took the silver medal with a score of 14.200, while Angelina Melnikova of the Russian Olympic Committee won the bronze with a score of 14.166.
