At Least One Dead After Plane Crash in Madison County

Officials are still investigating the cause of the accident.

At least one person was killed in a plane crash in Madison County on Sunday afternoon.

According to the Madison County Sheriff's Office and emergency responders, five planes were involved in the crash, including a Bellanca 17-30A and a Piper PA-46-350P Malibu Mirage.

The others involved have not yet been identified.

Sheriff's officials said the crash happened around 1:30 p.m. near Highway 72 and Jeff Road.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said that the plane took off from the Huntsville Executive Airport and was headed to the Madison County Executive Airport.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are both investigating the crash.

The NTSB is the lead agency in the investigation.

The NTSB will determine the probable cause of the crash and issue a final report.

The FAA will assist the NTSB in the investigation.

The FAA will also conduct an investigation to ensure that the airport is following all safety regulations.
